'God helps those who help themselves' is one of the most quoted "bible verses" that can't be found in the bible. This quote is often attributed to Benjamin Franklin (quoted from "Poor Richard's Almanac" written in 1757).
In reality this quotation comes from the English politician Algernon Sidney from his article "Discourses Concerning Government" published in 1698.
