One unexpected reminder came to me while making popcorn. Yes—popcorn! For the first time in my life, I decided to make it from scratch. All it took was a small handful of corn, a little oil, and a hot skillet. As those hard little kernels began to pop, transforming into something soft, inviting, and delicious, I stood in awe.
It struck me deeply: each kernel began small, tough, and seemingly insignificant—yet under the right conditions, guided by heat it could not control, it became something far greater than it appeared to be. In that simple kitchen moment, I saw my own story.
God has taken what was once hardened in me—small, overlooked, maybe even inedible to the world—and by His grace turned it into something meaningful, something new. That is the power of the cross. It transforms the insignificant into significance, it softens the hardened, and it brings forth something good and beautiful.
